Between me and you this site is for the younger me who wanted to do this but was too scared to. I was a little afraid now, but someone shoved me a little and I thank her very much. I know I can properly use my voice now. I always could but I was afraid of how the world would see me as I was ahead of my time for such a young age. I had an old soul, and I was always worried about what would come of this very day.

When I was younger I wanted to write a lot but I realized how much was revealed when you typed. Being so naked didn’t feel right until one day this woman told me that she had seen me. She said no matter how small you try to be you are right there and we see you because you are meant to be seen.
I hear that a lot but I was always made to feel that what I had to say wasn’t important and as a black woman I now realize we get that a lot. It doesn’t really matter who you are because at some point in our lives someone will have tried purposefully to make us feel small. The truth is sometimes it’s all in our heads and others it really is someone just afraid that we will outshine them. Either way, that’s no way to live when you have so much to say. I present “Between Me & You” because between me and you, y’all going hear what I have to say.
I was amazed at how easy it felt to sit and write for this screen when I really got down to the core of who I am and what I truly stand for. I am a very huge advocate of feminism even though I don’t walk around preaching it. I find it rather cliche because if you believe in something you live it even if you don’t really say it. You are who you are and I learned that through trying to fit in and be a “good girl”. Ah shit, I never was that and even when I was it wasn’t good enough to give me the life I wasn’t granted. That changed a lot and here we don’t’ point blame but it is essential to know how we all became who we are. And to then ask where do we go from here.

It is as important to talk about the present as it is the past but don’t forget to talk about the future because you can’t keep doing the same things over and over again and expecting a different results or outcomes. That’s not only insane it’s stupid yet we’ve all been there so I want you all to know that the flex isn’t in where you come from but where you go from here. Remember I said that as you will have many people in your life who won’t support you or want to see your growth. Do it anyway. You don’t need to take them with you but welcome the company if you should happen to be on a similar path.
If I have learned nothing over these past few years, I have learned that you have so few enemies if you keep yourself mindful of who you hang around. Your enemies can’t hang around you in stillness if you keep busy. You don’t need many friends but understand that a lot of the people you meet will be some of your biggest allies, supporters and some of your most silent of fans. They want to see you succeed because in you they see them, where they come from, where they’re going or where they used to be. There is comradery so be sort of mindful of what you align yourself with but be true to yourself. Your self and your story doesn’t have to be pretty. We are not beauty bound but we are also not ugly. Oh my god how I struggled with that.
You can’t imagine how much that will mean to someone else when they realize the things you have in common or the things that you have already done, they now have perspective on and don’t have to deal with. You basically helped them with that. Between me and you, this is my contribution to those who have come across me and have found, they want more. If you found me around trolling understand it’s for the blog. You can’t imagine how hard it is to get people to your site when it’s not only fans 😛
